A former governor of Bauchi state,
Dr Isa Yuguda has said the unity of members of the All Progressives Congress(APC) in Bauchi and its eventual victory as well as that of President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general elections are his utmost concern.
According to the former aviation minister, he will not be distracted from those tasks by empty accusations from any individual or group.
Yuguda therefore dismissed a petition allegedly written against him by the minister of foreign affairs, Yusuf Tuggar on the state of affairs of APC in Bauchi state.
A statement by his media office, said the petition submitted to the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party in an attempt to malign Yuguda character and credibility after the minister perfected the irregularities in the conduct of the congresses in Bauchi state is baseless.
The statement signed by Dapo Okubanjo, on behalf of Dr Isa Yuguda Media Office alleged that the minister had been the one deliberately causing disaffection and formenting trouble within the APC family in the state because of his ambition to be the party’s gubernatorial candidate in the forthcoming election.
The media office also accused Tuggar of unsuccessful attempts to malign the personality of Yuguda who was his political benefactor as far back as 2007 when they were both in the defunct All Nigeria’s Peoples Party (ANPP).
The Yuguda communication team maintained that their principal was instrumental to Tuggar’s nomination and eventual election into the House of Representatives to represent Gamawa federal constituency.
“It is unbecoming and dishonourable of Mr Tuggar who benefitted from the magnanimity of H.E. (Dr) Yuguda to continually indulge in character assassination of the man, God used to nurture him into political success.
“It is important to remind these acidic politicians and political desperadoes that Dr Yuguda is a successful career banker who rose to become the managing director of premier financial institutions (banks) and who was a member of the Corporate Nigeria which laid the foundation for the growth of the country’s financial sector.
“As a political figure, he has attained success as a politician with unbeatable legacies as minister ( Aviation & Transport) for 7 years and Executive Governor for 8 years and was chosen as the leader of the Bauchi State caucus of the party by the able national chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, at a stakeholders meeting.
“He is also, by the grace of God, the North East Coordinator of The Renewed Hope Ambassadors, courtesy of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” the statement reads in parts.
It added that, “Yuguda will not descend to the level of politics of pettiness and division, been marshalled by a minister who should be busy with the task of overseeing a strategic ministry, but who is rather sowing seeds of discord in a state that is vital to our Renewed Hope Agenda in the North East as well as the re-election of the President.
“Tuggar should be focused on his job and be thankful to President Tinubu for being magnanimous enough to appoint him as a cabinet member against all odds. The unity of members of APC in Bauchi and its eventual victory, as well as that of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general elections are the utmost concern of our principal. He will therefore not be distracted from those tasks by empty accusations from any individual or group.”
