Yobe to hold local council elections June 6

The Yobe State government will conduct elections into the 17 local government areas in the state on June 6.

The Acting Chairman of Yobe State Independent Electoral Commission (YSIEC), Alhaji Mohammed Nguru, announced this at a news conference on Wednesday in Damaturu.

He said Governor Mai Mala Buni had approved the election to usher in new chairmen, deputy chairmen and councillors in the LGAs.

The chairman pegged the cost of a nomination form for chairmanship at N300,000, N250,000 for vice chairman and N200,000 for councillors.

Nguru assured that the commission was ready to organise credible elections in the state.
