‘We’ve finally lost Nigeria; Obi, others can never be President again’ —Isaac Fayose

Published:

Isaac Fayose, the younger brother to former Ekiti State governor, Ayodele Fayose, has declared that with the passage of the electoral reform act by the Senate without including a mandatory electronic transmission of election results, the likes of Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar have no chance of becoming president in Nigeria.

Fayose who made the lamentation in a video he shared on social media on Thursday, expressed disappointment over the state of democracy in country, describing the opposition as weak and ineffective.

In the video footage, Fayose decried what he described as the collapse of the country’s political and electoral systems, warning that recent developments have eroded the chances of credible opposition in future elections.

“Opposition is gone, ADC is dead on arrival. Peter Obi can never be president. Nobody can be president again unless they select you,” he said.

Continuing, Fayose said:

“We’ve finally lost Nigeria. Electoral reform is gone. Even what former President Goodluck Jonathan started has been thrown into the dustbin. No more BVAS. Whatever they tell you is the result,” Fayose said.

He also accused the judiciary of being weakened, arguing that the political system no longer provides effective checks and balances and warned that Nigeria was sliding towards a one-party state, as the concentration of power in the hands of a few.

“We are now back to a one-party state, one family to rule us forever. This is sad, the saddest day of my life,” he added.
