Spain and Como striker Alvaro Morata has admitted he is “suffering” following his emotional split from wife Alice Campello, while also denying claims that he had an affair.
The 33-year-old forward and the Italian model, who share four children, attempted to rekindle their relationship earlier this year but have now confirmed that their marriage is over.
Speaking about the impact of the separation, Morata revealed that both he and Campello are struggling emotionally.
“We are suffering because we are two people who love each other, but we don’t understand each other.
“Alice isn’t having a worse time than me because many people say she’s the one who’s hurting.
“I want to make it clear that we’re both hurting, it’s not that she’s bitter, we’re both hurting.”
Reports have suggested that Morata moved out of the family home, though the former Chelsea striker and Campello are said to be maintaining a cordial relationship for the sake of their children.
Morata also dismissed allegations that he was romantically involved with sports management expert Elena Sirigu, insisting he is not interested in a new relationship at the moment.
“No special friend or anything like that, I’m not interested in that right now.
“The day I have a special friend, I’ll walk around with her normally and you’ll see.
“People who claim there are third parties involved in a separation like this, especially with children involved, simply have no heart.”
Campello has likewise denied that Morata was unfaithful.
The couple, who married in June 2017, first separated in August 2024 shortly after Morata helped Spain win the Euro 2024 final against England.
Morata is currently on loan at Como from AC Milan and has enjoyed a decorated career, winning Champions League titles and league crowns in Spain, Italy and Turkey. He also scored 24 goals during his spell at Chelsea, where he lifted the FA Cup and Europa League.
