Emmanuel Ogidi, Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) South-South Zonal Caretaker Committee, has assured that members who left the party due to the current crisis will return.
He said that, except for the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, and his group, all others would find their way back to the party.
Speaking on Arise News, Ogidi maintained that Wike and his allies had been expelled from the party and that there was no possibility of their return.
“The PDP problem, as you know, was self-inflicted. It was really members who caused it. We have been able to expel some of them, Wike and his group. We’ve expelled them.
“Others decided to stay on the sidelines, while some moved to other parties, but we believe they will come back.
“Except for those expelled, we believe others will return,” he said.
Asked to honestly describe the current state of the PDP, whether united, fragmented, or struggling to find direction, Ogidi said the party was moving forward.
“We are moving on. We lost some members, but we did not lose the base of the party.
“The base of the party is the grassroots. The base is still strong.
“Of course, it is expected. This APC government, using Wike and his group, dealt a heavy blow to us, but thank God we have recovered from that blow,” he added.
