Published:

A local vigilante group, the ONELGA Security and Planning Advisory Committee (OSPAC), has recovered the headless body of the abducted President of Omoku Youth Federation (OYF) in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni local government area of Rivers State, Comrade Ifeanyi Azuazu.

Azuazu, who was elected OYF President about two months ago, was abducted on Thursday night at a popular drinking joint along Ogolo Street, off Palace Road by gunmen suspected to be cultists, who also killed his civilian security aide, Chigozie Oluwu.

LEADERSHIP reports that Oluwu was shot dead as he attempted to intervene when the gunmen, who were about seven and came with two cars, pointed gun at the OYF President and ordered him into one of the cars

Confirming the recovery of Azuazu’s headless body, OSPAC spokesman, Godnews Nkem, said the corpse was recovered from a forest in Omoku on Friday afternoon, several hours after his abduction.

Nkem advised residents of Omoku to remain calm and allow the Nigerian Police, the Department of State Services (DSS) and other relevant security agencies to carry out their investigation with a view to arresting the culprits.

However, the Rivers State Police Command was yet to issue any statement on the incident as at the time of filing this report.
