Two people are feared dead after evening fire razed multiple houses in Sassawa community in Damaturu local government area of Yobe state.
Senator representing Yobe East, Musa Mustapha, confirmed the incident on his verified Facebook page while commiserating with victims and deceased families.
“While we were celebrating the joyous moment of Eidul-Fitr, I got a sad call on the sudden fire outbreak that reportedly claimed the lives of two people and razed down significant part of Sassawa village in Damaturu Local Government.
“I deeply commiserate with the victims, in particular families of the deceased and those whose shelter and source of livelyhood have been directly affected by the fire outbreak,”, he posted.
The lawmaker noted that he will engage with relevant stakeholders and government agencies including the State Emergency Management Agency to collectively assuage the plights of all those affected by the tragic incident.
“May Allah forgive those that died and grant their families the fortitude to bear the loss,” he wrote.
