Gov. AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara on Thursday expressed confidence that President Bola Tinubu’s deployment of troops to Kaiama Local Government Area of the state would restore peace after a deadly terrorist attack.

AbdulRazaq spoke with State House correspondents after meeting the President at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

He said he briefed Tinubu on the attack in Kaiama and thanked him for the swift establishment of Operation Savannah Shield.

The governor said the operation would go a long way in deterring further attacks and bringing calm to the area.

AbdulRazaq said the first commander of Operation Savannah Shield had already reported in Ilorin and commenced work.

“The President has directed the armed forces to move in, and to clean up the place and make sure peace and calm is restored.”

He said the state government would continue to rely on the military and other security agencies to stabilise the affected communities.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that suspected terrorists on Tuesday launched deadly attacks on the Worro and Nuku communities in Kaiama local government area of Kwara, with scores feared dead. (NAN)
