ABAKALIKI – Three children have reportedly been kidnapped by suspected traffickers in Nkwoagu, Abakaliki Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
The children, aged between one and two years, were abducted from their compound after the suspects, who had entered the premises the previous day, asked them to buy biscuits from the road.
Two of the children—a boy and a girl—are from the same mother, while the third, a boy, belongs to another woman living in the same compound.
One of the mothers, Mrs. Oluchi Nworie, alleged that the landlord of the building brought the three young women into the compound the previous evening. The women reportedly gave the children money to buy biscuits and then disappeared with the children in a waiting tricycle (Keke).
The State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Joshua Ukandu, confirmed the incident, saying the police are investigating the matter. He added that no arrests have been made so far but assured that the authorities are committed to thoroughly investigating the case, apprehending the suspects, and rescuing the children.
“The case of the kidnapped children has been reported, and we are conducting a thorough investigation to identify those responsible and ensure the possible rescue of the children,” Ukandu said.
