Tension heightens in Ondo community as gunmen kidnap another pregnant woman

Akure—Gunmen have again abducted a pregnant woman, Mrs. Mary Jesulayomi, at Ayede Community in Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State.

Recall that few days ago, gunmen abducted a proprietress of a primary school, Mrs. Tomilola Oladeinde and shot three other persons at Ilu- Abo community in the same council.

They stormed her residence at Liberty Avenue, Iluabo area, about 8p.m., shot at her vehicle and whisked her away to an unknown destination.

Her whereabouts remained unknown at press time.

However, the pregnant woman was reportedly abducted in the community Tuesday night.

A local said: “A kidnap case occurred on Tuesday about 7:40p.m., at Ayede community near Alagbaka Extension, Akure where one Mrs. Mary Jesulayomi (pregnant woman) was captured and taken away.

“Mrs. Ogunleye Mese, an 85-year-old woman was also kidnapped but was later released. Her husband, 90 years old, Pa Ogunleye Mese suffered injury in the process.”

Contacted, the state police command spokesperson, Abayomi Jimoh, confirmed the abduction of the pregnant woman, saying the command has deployed police detectives to the community to rescue the victim unhurt.

According to him, “Upon receipt of the report, the command has deployed tactical teams to the scene. Efforts are ongoing towards rescuing the victim and arrest the perpetrators of the crime.”
