A Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Senator Bala Na’Allah, says there is something somewhere that is working against the smooth running of Nigeria.
Fielding questions on Channels Television’s ‘Sunrise Daily’ monitored by DAILY POST on Monday, Na’Allah said with the way Nigeria’s constitution is structured, no one can blame one man for the issues in the country.
“You see, we have a political class that has been given one of the best documents; that is the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to serve as a framework of governance that has the capacity to translate our intentions for the generality of Nigerians.
“When the framers of our constitution decided to sit down and put everything in place in the constitution, I believe that they wanted a situation where there would be committed Democrats who would put the spirit of the constitution into play.
“The biggest problem we have is that every president that comes, after some time Nigerians will say, we are not satisfied. But what Nigerians have failed to understand is that, what is the reason?
“Nigerians have failed to understand that there must be something somewhere that is working against the smooth running of the affairs of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and all of us have decided not to look at it; we would rather say, ‘it is Mr President.’
“It’s an issue of collective responsibility. And I’m telling you; go and look at the constitution. Look at the oath of office each elected official has taken before assuming office, and then put it on their face and tell me how many of them have succeeded in keeping to the spirit of that constitution.”
