‘Recalcitrant bandit behind recent Malumfashi attacks’ – Katsina Govt

Published:

Katsina State Government has attributed recent bandit attacks in some communities of Malumfashi Local Government Area to a bandit leader identified as Mani Doro, who allegedly rejected ongoing peace efforts in the state.

The Director-General of Media to Governor Dikko Umaru Radda, Maiwada Damallam, said the attacks were carried out by the bandit leader, who operates from the Danmusa axis of Katsina State.

According to Damallam, the state had witnessed relative calm in recent months following the adoption of both military and non-military security measures, including peace negotiations with armed groups willing to lay down their arms.

He said Mani Doro was among a few armed leaders who refused to participate in the dialogue process initiated by affected communities, adding that security agencies were currently tracking him and his group.

The government said security forces had intensified operations in the area to prevent further attacks and apprehend those responsible.

It noted that the recent incidents did not indicate a collapse of the peace process, stressing that many armed groups had embraced dialogue and ceased hostilities, leading to improved security across several parts of the state.

The state government reiterated that while dialogue remained an option for groups willing to renounce violence, security agencies would continue military action against those involved in criminal activities.

Residents were urged to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies by providing credible information to support ongoing security operations.
