The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested six suspected armed robbers and recovered two motorcycles and other incriminating items following a violent attack in Giade local government area of the State.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Bauchi State Command, SP Nafi’u Habib, in a statement on Tuesday, disclosed that the arrests followed a tip-off received about activities of the suspects in Giade LGA.

“The information revealed that a gang of about seven armed men had earlier, at about 2:30 a.m., attacked two security operatives attached to the Giade Emirate Council,” he said.

SP Habib said the victims Mohammed Musa, also known as Baushe, aged 40, and Auwal Maidawa, both members of the Nigerian Forestry and Security Services, were assaulted with cutlasses, knives, sticks and a locally made gun.

He added that they sustained injuries and were robbed of a dane gun, a torchlight and a mobile phone.

The Police spokesman said a team of detectives led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Giade Division, CSP Bello Yusuf Kumo, swung into action and arrested one Aminu Abdulkadir, 22, of Unguwar Guru.

“During interrogation, the suspect confessed and implicated five others who were subsequently apprehended,” he stated.

SP Habib identified the other arrested suspects to include Habu Musa, alias Habule (24); Adamu Samaila, alias Aliyos (24); Yusuf Sabo, alias Sibu Dan Tsure (24); Abdullahi Garba, alias Audu Guntu (25), and Dan Azare, all of Giade town.

He said investigations revealed that the suspects had been terrorising Giade town, breaking into homes and dispossessing residents of valuables.

The police said items reportedly stolen included 13 mobile phones, two wrappers, two lace materials, one MP3 player and one Bluetooth device, with an estimated value of N1.2 million.

Police said items recovered from the suspects included two red-colour Boxer brand motorcycles, sharp knives, a saw used for breaking into houses or shops, four ATM cards, a motorcycle ignition switch with key and three capacitors.

SP Habib added that investigations were ongoing, and the State’s Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has directed that the suspects be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
