Armed bandits on Monday carried out a violent raid on Gidan Sarki community in Tuge Ward of Musawa Local Government Area, Katsina State, abducting more than 20 residents.
Information about the attack was shared in a post on X on Tuesday by security analyst Bakatsine.
According to the post, the attackers stormed the community, shot some residents, seized livestock, and caused widespread fear, forcing people to flee their homes.
The post further stated that the assault displaced entire families, many of whom are now sleeping in unsafe locations such as forests, graveyards, abandoned wells, rooftops, and open spaces under trees, as they fear further attacks.
Bakatsine noted that the incident occurred despite an earlier peace agreement between stakeholders in the local government area and the armed groups operating in the region.
“Yesterday, bandits stormed Gidan Sarki community in Tuge Ward, Musawa LGA of Katsina State, killing residents, abducting over 20 people, looting livestock and forcing entire communities to flee.
“Families now sleep in forests, graveyards, abandoned wells, rooftops, and under trees. This happened despite the peace deal between the LGA stakeholders and the bandits,” Bakatsine wrote.
Meanwhile, security agencies and state authorities have yet to issue an official response to the attack, as residents continue to assess their losses.
