Outrage has followed the release of an interview featuring convicted actor Olanrewaju Omiyinka, known as Baba Ijesha, on a podcast hosted by actress Biola Adebayo.
The interview, which surfaced on social media, has drawn criticism from netizens
Baba Ijesha, who was convicted and sentenced to five years’ imprisonment over a case involving a minor, used the platform to challenge the circumstances surrounding his conviction.
His comments have been widely rejected by stakeholders, who described the interview as inappropriate.
Critics argue that giving such a platform to a convicted offender raises concerns about ethical standards in digital media.
They warn that such content could undermine ongoing advocacy against child abuse and retraumatise victims.
A user, #tolu_fakoya, wrote, “There is nowhere in the world, and no one in their right senses and mind should be granting a child rapist any interview. No one. Biola Adebayo is appalling.”
Another user, #Fortwin___, said, “They need to rearrest Baba Ijesha, then Biola Adebayo. Because you must be mad to be caught on camera molesting a child, go to jail for it and come outside to say they lied on your head or it’s AI. They should throw him back in jail. People like this should not be given any platform at all.”
