The member representing Orhionmwon/Uhunmwonde Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Billy Osawaru, has reaffirmed his commitment to improving the welfare of his constituents through sustained empowerment initiatives.

Speaking during a mega empowerment programme held at
Ikhueniro, in Uhunmwode local government are of Edo State, Osawaru said the intervention was part of deliberate efforts to enhance livelihoods and stimulate economic growth across Orhionmwon and Uhunmwonde communities.

The event, which drew party leaders and stakeholders from both local government areas, featured the distribution of mini-buses, tricycles, motorcycles for persons with disabilities, as well as grinding and welding machines to beneficiaries.

Addressing the gathering, Osawaru noted that his role as a federal lawmaker goes beyond legislation, stressing the need to directly impact the lives of his constituents.

“Every day I am in the National Assembly making laws, I keep asking myself if I have done well enough for my people to be satisfied,” he said.

He added, “I can say I have done well, but it is now left for me to consolidate on my areas of strength and improve on my areas of weakness,”

His wife, who accompanied him to the event, urged beneficiaries to make judicious use of the items distributed, emphasising that the initiative was designed to promote self-reliance and long-term economic stability.

Some beneficiaries, who spoke at the programme, expressed appreciation to the lawmaker, noting that the support would significantly improve their standard of living.

A beneficiary, Osawe, commended Osawaru’s efforts, stating that he “has done well for the constituency and deserves to be returned.”

Another beneficiary, Mrs. Idia, said the sewing machine she received would enable her to start a clothing business. “I have been finding things very difficult, but with this machine, I can now begin a meaningful livelihood,” she said.

Osawaru, who chairs the House Committee on African Integration and Cooperation, is seeking the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket for a second term in office.
