Airtel, 9Mobile Hit By Major Outages Across Lagos, Enugu, Others.

Published:

Hey there! Have you had trouble with your phone or internet lately? Well, you’re definitely not alone. It turns out thousands of us across Nigeria have been struggling with service disruptions over the past week, and it’s been a real headache!

It seems like major network operators, like 9Mobile and Airtel, are having a tough time battling power outages and issues with their equipment in different areas. This has led to all sorts of problems – from not being able to make calls or send texts to having absolutely no internet data. Can you imagine trying to get work done or even just message a friend when your service keeps cutting out?

Customers on Airtel and 9Mobile in places like Lagos, Enugu, Delta, Akwa Ibom, and Abia are the ones feeling this most. It really shows how vulnerable our telecom setup is when something as basic as power fails. These outages have truly left people stranded, affecting everything from simple chats to important online banking and even business operations.

Let me break down what the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has been reporting:

Lagos: Ikorodu Hit by 9Mobile Outage

Over in Ikorodu, Lagos, 9Mobile users have been experiencing disruptions for their SMS, voice, and data services. This all started in the early hours of June 9, 2025, because of a power outage. The real kicker? It’s due to a diesel shortage at one of their main sites! So, a complete power failure. As of now, it’s been almost nine hours of no service, and they’re still working on getting it back up. Tough luck for Ikorodu residents!

Delta State: Airtel Data Woes in Ughelli South

If you’re an Airtel subscriber in Ughelli South, Delta State, you’ve likely been pulling your hair out. You’ve had a prolonged data service disruption since June 7, 2025, all thanks to an ongoing power outage. It gets a bit technical, but essentially, two of their generators at a key site have faulty injector pumps, making them unstable. This has left major network sites completely down, severely impacting connectivity. Ouch!

Akwa Ibom: Widespread Airtel Outages from Fibre Cuts

Airtel users across several local government areas in Akwa Ibom, including Abak, Eket, Etinan, and Mbo, have been facing widespread service disruption. Since the evening of June 6, 2025, they’ve had no SMS, voice, or data, all because of multiple fibre cuts along crucial transmission routes. Imagine three major fibre paths – Uyo–Calabar, Uyo–Aba, and Uyo–Umuahia – all damaged! On the Uyo–Aba route, a heavy-duty truck even pulled down an aerial cable. They’re working on fixing it, but security concerns are even delaying access to some affected sites. What a mess!

Enugu: 9Mobile Users Disconnected for a Week!

Now, for the really long one: 9Mobile subscribers in Enugu have been enduring a week-long service outage! Can you believe it? Since June 1, 2025, everything from USSD to SMS, voice, and data services has been affected across Enugu East, North, South, Nsukka, and Udenu. This has obviously made communication and digital transactions a nightmare. The problem? A faulty injector and a bad oil pressure sensor on the diesel generator at their Enugu switch site. No power, no network, leaving thousands completely disconnected.

Remember, the NCC actually requires telecom companies to tell us about these big outages. They have to inform subscribers about the problem, the affected area, and how long it’ll take to fix. Plus, if a major network outage lasts more than 24 hours, they’re supposed to provide some form of compensation, like extending your service validity. Let’s hope they stick to that for all these affected customers!

So, have you or anyone you know been hit by these recent network issues? It really makes you appreciate reliable service when you have it, doesn’t it?
