The Nigeria Police Force has publicly condemned the behavior of its officers featured in a controversial viral video alongside Nollywood actress Angela Okorie. The video shows two armed officers running behind the actress while she was jogging, an image that quickly sparked widespread public concern and criticism.
In a statement signed by the Force Public Relations Officer (PRO), Muyiwa Adejobi, on Wednesday, the police announced that they have initiated a process to identify the officers involved and determine the exact circumstances surrounding the viral clip.
Unprofessional Conduct and Ongoing Investigation
The official statement from the Nigeria Police Force read: “The Nigeria Police Force strongly frowns at the conduct of armed police officers seen in a viral video trailing actress Angela Okorie while she jogged — an act considered clearly inconsistent with the professional standards and decorum expected of personnel of the Force.”
While the incident appears to have occurred on or around a movie set, and it remains unclear whether the scene was part of a scripted production, the police emphasized that “the conduct of the officers seen in the video falls short of the standards expected of members of the Nigeria Police Force.”
Consequently, necessary administrative processes are now underway to fully investigate the matter. The Force stated that “appropriate disciplinary action will be taken based on the outcome of the review.” The Nigeria Police Force reiterated its unwavering commitment to upholding professionalism, discipline, and public trust among its personnel.
Interestingly, even as the Force launched its investigation, an inscription on the actress’s own TikTok post indicated that the viral clip was indeed an excerpt from a movie production. This detail suggests the incident might have been a staged scene for a film, though the police’s condemnation focuses on the perception of unprofessional conduct regardless of the context.
