Speaker of the Niger State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Abdulmalik Mohammed Sarkin-Daji, has said the Nigerian Army led a successful operation that resulted in the rescue of about 70 kidnapped victims in his Mariga constituency.
While applauding the feat achieved by the Army, he also commended the Department of State Services (DSS) and other security agencies for their collaboration and support, which contributed to the success of the operation in Mariga and other parts of the Niger North Senatorial District.
He described the operation as a major relief to the affected communities, noting that the bravery and professionalism of the troops and other security agencies led to the neutralisation of several bandits, the arrest of suspected criminals and the safe rescue of many innocent residents who had been held captive.
He said, “The rescue of about 70 kidnapped victims clearly demonstrates the renewed commitment of the Nigerian Army and security agencies to ending banditry and other criminal activities in the state”.
Sarikin Daji reiterated that the success of the operation has restored hope and confidence among residents, especially those in rural and vulnerable areas who have suffered repeated attacks and abductions.
He acknowledged the dangers security agents face daily in the line of duty to protect lives and property, and reassured the Nigerian Army and other security agencies of the State Government’s continued support and cooperation.
He stressed that the government remained committed to strengthening security efforts across the state; therefore, he called on the people of Niger State to remain calm, vigilant, and law-abiding.
The Speaker urged the people to support security agencies by providing timely, useful information that can help prevent crime and sustain peace.
