In a successful start to the year, the Nasarawa State Police Command has safely recovered four children who were whisked away on New Year’s Eve.
The children had been missing since December 31, 2025, after disappearing from the Karu Local Government Area under suspicious circumstances. Their rescue follows a high-stakes, joint operation between detectives from the Nasarawa Command and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command.
The breakthrough was confirmed in a statement released on Tuesday by the command’s spokesperson, DSP Ramhan Nansel.
The police launched a focused investigation immediately after the report was filed at the New Nyanya Division. According to the official statement:
“The children went missing on December 31, 2025, in Karu LGA, prompting the police to launch an investigation.”
By tracking digital and human intelligence, the joint team was able to pinpoint exactly where the victims were being held.

“Acting on credible intelligence, detectives from Nasarawa State Police Command and FCT Police Command traced the suspects’ hideout and recovered the children unhurt,” the statement continued.
Police have identified the primary suspects as 28-year-old Abraham Asoje and 29-year-old Joy Bolaje. Preliminary reports suggest the pair allegedly conspired to keep the children in confinement at Ado Junction within the LGA.
While the two main suspects are in custody, the police noted that the investigation is far from over, as they believe more individuals may have been involved in the kidnapping plot.
The most vital part of the mission was completed when the children were returned to their parents, bringing an end to a week-long nightmare for the affected families.
The command confirmed that the children are in good health and “have been reunited with their families,” while reassuring the public that “efforts were ongoing to apprehend other suspects connected to the crime.”
Commissioner of Police Shetima Mohammed commended the operatives for their professionalism and urged parents to remain extra vigilant during the holiday season.
