Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association (MACBAN) in Plateau State chapter has alleged the murder of a herder, Zakariya Abdullhai, by the Berom people in Gero community of Jos South local government area.
LEADERSHIP also gathered that another herder, Jibrin Musa, who was wounded in the process, is receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital in the area.
MACBAN, in a statement issued in Jos, signed by its chairman, Yusuf Babayo, said, “It is with deep sadness that we inform the world of yet another gruesome attack by the suspected Berom ethnic group on Fulani herders in the Hero community of Plateau state.”
But in a swift reaction, the national publicity secretary of Berom Youths Moulder-Association (BYM) Rwang Tengwong, said armed herders stormed the mining site and opened fire on vulnerable miners, forcing them to flee for safety.
he said in the ensuing chaos, bullets fired by the attackers reportedly hit one of their own, resulting in his death.
According to BYM, despite these clear facts, the Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) has gone on to falsely claim that “Berom terrorists” attacked Fulani persons who were allegedly returning from shopping at Gero in Jos South LGA.
