Mbappé Tipped For 2026 Ballon d’Or Glory

Published:

Former France international Bacary Sagna has confidently backed Kylian Mbappé to clinch the prestigious Ballon d’Or in 2026.

Speaking to GOAL, Sagna believes the Real Madrid superstar is destined for the award, especially in a World Cup year where Mbappé aims for his second global title with Les Bleus.

Mbappé, 27, has been a dominant force, leading France to World Cup success in 2018 and scoring a hat-trick in the 2022 final. Sagna highlighted Mbappé’s strong season with Real Madrid, where he has netted 34 goals in 28 appearances, and anticipates a successful World Cup campaign.

“He will win it. I think it is the right season for him to win it this year. I think the World Cup will be good with the France national team. I think he will have a good spell in the Champions League with Real Madrid.”

Sagna’s conviction stems from Mbappé’s consistent top-tier performance and his pivotal role for both club and country. While fellow countryman Frank Leboeuf expressed reservations about the Ballon d’Or’s meaning, he nonetheless hopes to see Mbappé receive the recognition he deserves as an “incredible player.”
