The Kaduna State chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, has condemned the recent mass abduction of Christian worshippers in Kajuru local government area of the state.
Bandits on Sunday, January 19, 2026, abducted about 170 worshippers from three different church services in Kajuru local government area with six of them miraculously escaping from the abductors and returned home with different degrees of injuries on their bodies after receiving serious beating.
The state CAN chairman, Rev. Caleb Ma’aji Bawa, in an interview with DAILY POST said, “The mass abduction of worshippers is regrettable, shameful and disappointing. It is true that the incident has happened at a time governments at all levels are doing their best to ensure Nigerians go about their businesses in order to earn a living.
“lt is also worrisome and unfortunate that we have miscreants and criminals in our midst who have nothing doing in their lives but to kill people, abduct and destroy property at will without any human reasoning in their hearts.”
He prayed for safe return of all those kidnapped and also asked for divine intervention in order to bring an end to the continuous kidnapping and other criminal activities in different parts of the country.
Citizens, according to him should partner with government and security personnel to expose all criminal elements in the society, saying that it is only when Nigerians collectively condemn such barbaric acts that the society will enjoy God’s divine purpose.
Bawa also thanked the security personnel for doing their best to neutralize criminals and enjoined them to be up and doing in ensuring that they unearth plans of enemies of progress in order to ensure stability in the country.
