Manchester United secured a crucial 3-2 victory over Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday evening, in a pulsating encounter that significantly bolsters their pursuit of a top-four finish in the English Premier League
Interim manager Michael Carrick celebrated back-to-back wins, following last weekend’s triumph over rivals Manchester City.
The Gunners initially took the lead in the 29th minute through a Lisandro Martínez own goal. However, United quickly responded, with Bryan Mbeumo levelling the score in the 37th minute to send the teams into halftime at 1-1.
The second half exploded into action. United surged ahead in the 50th minute when Bruno Fernandes found the net. Arsenal showed resilience, with Declan Rice equalizing in the 64th minute, and Mikel Merino putting them ahead in the 84th. Yet, the drama wasn’t over. United’s Matheus Cunha equalized in the 87th minute, and just moments later, Kobbie Mainoo snatched a dramatic winner, sending the travelling fans into raptures.
Carrick’s side displayed remarkable character to come from behind twice and secure all three points, putting them firmly in contention for a Champions League spot. For Arsenal, it’s a disappointing result that sees them lose ground in the race for European football.
