Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma has described the award presented to him by LEADERSHIP Newspaper as further evidence that democracy is thriving in Nigeria.

Uzodimma said the recognition demonstrates that public officials are continually being evaluated, underscoring the need for leaders to remain accountable and uphold high standards.

He made the remarks on Thursday at the LEADERSHIP Annual Conference and Awards 2025 in Abuja. He was awarded governor of the year alongside five others, namely, Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa; Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti; Dauda Lawal of Zamfara; Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta; and Senator Uba Sani of Kaduna State.

According to him, “This award is further proof that our democracy is alive and thriving, and it reminds us as leaders to remain accountable to the people we serve.”

He thanked the management of LEADERSHIP Newspaper for honouring him and other governors, noting that the award would further motivate them to contribute more to national development.
