Katsina United secured a vital 1-0 victory over Shooting Stars of Ibadan today in a hard-fought Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) encounter.
The win sees the Changi Boys climb to 8th position on the league table with 46 points, boosting their hopes for a strong finish to the season.
The match at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium was a cagey affair, with both teams struggling to break the deadlock in the first half, which ended goalless. The second half saw increased intensity, and it was Katsina United who eventually found the breakthrough in the 66th minute, much to the delight of the home crowd.
Despite late pressure from the Oluyole Warriors, Katsina United’s defense held firm to claim all three points. The result is a significant one for the Katsina-based club, while Shooting Stars will be left to rue missed opportunities as they continue their campaign.
