JUST-IN: Bandits Set Police Station Ablaze, Attack Church In Niger

Armed men suspected to be marauding bandits, on Sunday morning, set ablaze a police station and UMC church at Sokombara community in Agwara local government area of Niger Dtate.

LEADERSHIP gathered that the bandits also killed an old woman, abducted five members of the community and looted the villagers’ food stuff and other valuables.

Confirming the incident to LEADERSHIP, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Wasiu Abiodun said; “armed bandits invaded Agwara community, attacked the Police station where they were engaged by the tactical team on ground, used suspected dynamite to set the station ablaze, having overpowered the team.

“The terrorists later moved to UMC church in the community, burnt part of the church, proceeded to other areas and abducted about five persons whose identities were yet to be ascertained. Monitoring continues, further development will be communicated, please.”

LEADERSHIP recalls that the latest attack was among three major attacks on Agwara communities since the abduction and release of Papiri Schoolchildren and staff late 2025 in the same Agwara local government area of the state.
