Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, has officially declared the Republic of Somaliland as an independent and sovereign state.
Netanyahu made this declaration in a statement posted on his verified X handle on Friday.
The Israeli PM disclosed that he signed the joint and mutual declaration with Foreign Minister Sa’ar, and the President of the Republic of Somaliland, Abdirahman Mohamed Abdallah.
He stated that the declaration is in the spirit of the Abraham Accords, signed at the initiative of President Donald Trump of the United States.
According to him, the State of Israel plans to immediately expand its relations with the Republic of Somaliland through extensive cooperation in the fields of agriculture, health, technology.and economy.
He said President Abdallah appreciated the historic declaration and expressed appreciation for his achievements in fighting terrorism and advancing regional peace.
“I announced today the official recognition of the Republic of Somaliland as an independent and sovereign state,” Netanyahu said.
