KANO—The Kano State Government has announced plans to construct toll gates on all major roads leading into the state metropolis as part of efforts to strengthen security and boost the socio-economic framework of the state.
Commissioner of Housing Development, Ibrahim Adamu, disclosed the plan while officially handing over seven project sites to contractors for the construction of the toll gates.
Adamu, in a statement issued by the Ministry’s Director of Public Enlightenment, Adamu Abdullahi, reiterated the government’s determination to enhance the state’s security architecture through adequate monitoring of vehicular movement into Kano.
He called on the contractors to ensure the completion of the project within the stipulated timeframe.
The handing-over ceremonies took place across the seven designated project sites and were witnessed by the Commissioner of Works and Infrastructure, Marwan Ahmed, as well as the Commissioner of Public Procurement and Monitoring, Dr. Nura Ma’aji.
A key highlight of the exercise was the signing of the handover notes between the contractors, representatives of the Ministry of Housing Development, and the project consultant.
The proposed toll gate locations include Daura Road, Katsina Road, Gwarzo Road, Zaria Road, Maiduguri Road, Hadejia Road, and Sa’adatu Rimi.
