Governor Adeleke Hails Chief Bisi Akande On 87th Birthday

Osun State governor, Ademola Adeleke, has hailed former governor of the State and national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Abdulkareem Adebisi Akande, on his 87th birthday anniversary, describing him as a ‘statesman with distinction’ whose contributions to Osun State and Nigeria were immeasurable.

In a statement issued on Thursday and signed by his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, the governor said Chief Akande is ‘living on the positive side of history as one of the leaders who devoted their energy, time, and resources to national development.’

Governor Adeleke noted with admiration how Chief Akande oversaw the construction of the Osun State Government Secretariat during his tenure as governor from 1999 to 2003.

“Chief Bisi Akande is a seasoned politician and statesman. He has served Nigeria with distinction in various capacities. He has his name written in gold on the formation of credible opposition parties, beginning with the Alliance for Democracy (AD), which later evolved into the Action Congress (AC), Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), and eventually the All Progressives Congress (APC), now the ruling party in Nigeria,” the governor said.

Wishing Chief Akande continued good health, Governor Adeleke described him as a “reservoir of knowledge on public administration, political development, and regional development.”

“As former Governor of Osun State, National leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and Secretary to the Government of the old Oyo State, Chief Akande’s contributions to national development are immeasurable. His leadership and vision have left lasting impacts on Osun State and Nigeria at large. We acknowledge his dedication to public service and commitment to the progress of our nation,” he added.
