ABUJA: Impressed by the outcome of the February 21 Area Council election in the nation’s capital, Abuja, Federal Capital Territory FCT minister, Nyesom Wike, has announced the immediate elevation of the Etsu Kwali to a first-class chieftaincy, framing the move as a reward for the community’s unwavering loyalty to the current administration.

Visiting the Kwali Area Council on behalf of President Bola Tinubu, the minister transformed the appreciation rally into a platform for major developmental commitments.

He emphasized that the administration prioritizes keeping its word to those who support the government’s agenda, reinforcing his frequently cited “agreement is agreement” philosophy.

The minister’s announcement was met with cheers as he confirmed that the upgrade in status would be accompanied by the construction of a modern palace tailored to the monarch’s new first-class standing.

Beyond traditional honors, Wike addressed the council’s physical needs, declaring that all previously promised road projects are now officially prioritized for execution.

He signaled that contractors would be mobilized to the area shortly to begin work.

During the interactive session, the Minister praised the residents for their political steadfastness, noting that the administration’s rapid response to their needs is a direct result of their commitment during previous engagements.

He also credited the local leadership for effectively advocating for the community’s interests.

“Your outgoing chairman and the chairman-elect are people whom we will always listen to because they have the interests of the people of Kwali at heart.

“Today, by the grace of God, you have fulfilled the promise you made to Mr. President… and we will also fulfill the promise we have made to you”, he stated.

Wike reassured the council that the president remains dedicated to providing the necessary support to the area.

He described the developments as the starting point of a strengthened partnership between the FCT Administration and the people of Kwali.
