A former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Idi Hong, has dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adamawa State.
Hong, who also served as Minister of State for Health, announced his defection on Saturday in his hometown, Hong, before supporters and political associates.
He said the decision to join the APC followed extensive consultations with members of his political structure and loyalists across the state.

Hong explained that his stay in PDP was no longer in the best interest of his supporters and their collective political aspirations.
“I cannot allow myself and my followers to be dragged down by a party that is clearly losing direction.
“The move is guided by a desire to advance development in the state and the country,” the ex- minister stated.
Hong stressed that the APC provided a more viable platform to achieve his goals.
He directed members of his political network to resign from the PDP and fully align with the APC.
He assured the APC leaders of his readiness to work for the party’s victory in the 2027 general elections.
