With just two days remaining until the commencement of the second Niger Delta Games, the Edo State Sports Commission management has paid a morale-boosting visit to Team Edo athletes, encouraging them to demonstrate strength, boldness, and the drive to “soar like eagles” during the upcoming competition.
Hon. Amadin Desmond Enabulele, Executive Chairman of the Edo State Sports Commission, led a delegation including Permanent Secretary Mrs. Patricia Efe-Amenze and Executive Director of Sports Development and Operations Mrs. Sabina Chikere, to the team’s GRA camp on Wednesday evening. The visit aimed to express the Commission’s gratitude for the athletes’ dedication and sacrifices.
“We are here to appreciate you and to admonish you as we are close to the commencement of the Games,” Hon. Enabulele stated, commending their “patience, perseverance, and sacrifices” during their time in camp. He reiterated the management’s “confidence in your ability to deliver for your dear state.”
As the host state, Edo’s athletes were reminded of their ambassadorial role, representing their families and the state. Enabulele stressed the importance of discipline, urging them to “be disciplined throughout” as a “sure way to victory and success.” He also encouraged respectful conduct and open communication with coaches and officials regarding any concerns.
Concluding his address, Hon. Enabulele powerfully motivated the team: “Be strong and bold like Lions and soar like eagles and go for gold as good ambassadors of Edo state. Thank you for all that you have done. There is a reward for all of us.”
