Widely revered as a trailblazing journalist and one of the nation’s most influential media figures, Dr. Abiola was also one of the wives of the late winner of the June 12 presidential election, Chief MKO Abiola. Her death was confirmed by Jamiu Abiola, one of MKO Abiola’s sons, on Wednesday.

Born in 1943, Dr. Doyin Abiola’s illustrious career spanned over three decades, during which she consistently broke barriers and profoundly shaped public discourse through her incisive journalism. She earned a degree in English and Drama from the University of Ibadan in 1969, marking the beginning of her intellectual journey.
