A heavy security presence has taken over the residence of late former President Muhammadu Buhari in Daura, Katsina State, as burial preparations intensified on Tuesday. According to iReporter Online, armed personnel from the Department of State Services, the Nigerian Army, the Nigeria Police Force, and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps have been strategically deployed around the property.
Security operatives were seen manning key access points to ensure absolute control over movement, while a portion of the residential compound—specifically a garden adjacent to the main house—has been marked as the late president’s final resting place. Grave digging was already underway, reportedly by individuals believed to be close family members.
According to iReporter Online, the security detail ensured that journalists and onlookers were kept at bay, preventing any visual access to the grave preparation area. A strict perimeter was enforced, underscoring the solemnity and sensitivity of the moment.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is expected to personally receive Buhari’s remains at the Umaru Musa Yar’Adua Airport in Katsina. Before this, Tinubu had directed Vice-President Kashim Shettima and Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila to travel to the United Kingdom to accompany the body back to Nigeria, according to iReporter Online.
