Award-winning Ghanaian musician and rapper,
Black Sherif has continued to thrill his fans with good music, the latest being the song and visuals ‘Top of the Morning’.

The song is his first in 2026. He reflected on his meteoric rise.
In an intimate, deeply personal statement shared via his Substack, the “Kweku The Traveller” hitmaker looked back at the “hurdles and sleepless nights” that defined his early career. He touched on the emotional weight of his journey from being told as a 17-year-old that his voice “wasn’t good enough” to selling out back-to-back nights in London and hosting over 20,000 people in a stadium.

“Nothing was handed to us,” Sherif wrote. “We worked late nights into early mornings… It took time to realise these stab wounds had to happen for us to realise how great we were to become.”

The statement also offered a rare glimpse into the artist’s private life, mentioning mornings spent on the balcony of his first property and late-night drives taken “just to feel human again.” Sherif credited his long-term collaborator, Obala, recalling the days they worked on cracked phone screens before the fame and the cameras.

Sherif spoke about how the legal battles and personal trials that have shaped his music, specifically mentioning the closure of a long-standing case that brought his mother to tears. “No one in their right mind would still be here,” he admitted, highlighting the mental fortitude required to stay at the top of the Afrobeats scene.

Fans won’t have to wait long for the first chapter of Sherif’s 2026 era. The new song and its accompanying video, released February 13, have continued to serenade his fans

Mohammed Ismail Sherif, known as Black Sherif and formerly Blacko, is also a fashion model.
