A Junior Secondary School 3 student in Benue State has allegedly beaten his teacher to death during a confrontation over a confiscated school cap. The tragic incident occurred on Thursday, July 10, 2025, in the Oju Local Government Area of the state.
According to security analyst, Zagazola Makama, the suspect, identified as 16-year-old Friday Ogamude, a student of UBE Oju Centre, confronted his teacher, Mr. Oyibe Oyibe, aged 35, regarding a cap the teacher had seized back in May 2025.
The confrontation quickly escalated when the student allegedly struck the teacher during a heated exchange. The teacher reportedly collapsed on the spot. He was immediately rushed to Amara Hospital, Oju, where a medical doctor confirmed him dead.
The deceased’s body has been photographed and transferred to the General Hospital, Oju, for autopsy, while investigations into the incident are currently ongoing. Police stated that the suspect was arrested, and the command condemned the act, assuring the public that justice will be served.
