Bashir Ahmad happy as Buratai sues Ali-Keffi for N1bn over defamation

Published:

Bashir Ahmad has welcomed the decision by former Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai (retd.), to take legal action against another retired officer, Maj. Gen. Danjuma Hamisu Ali-Keffi.

In a post on X, Ahmad said he was genuinely pleased that Buratai is seeking N1billion in damages over what he described as defamatory statements that “border on terrorism.”

According to him, the retired major general has, over time, made “numerous grave and far-reaching allegations” against the previous administration and some of its officials.

Ahmad stressed that “allegations of such magnitude should never be left to the court of public opinion alone.”

He added that the lawsuit now gives Ali-Keffi a formal platform to back up his claims, noting that “this legal action now presents an opportunity for him to substantiate those claims with credible evidence before a competent court of law.”
