Arteta Outlines Challenges To Arsenal’s Quadruple Ambitions

Published:

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has expressed concerns that injuries could derail his team’s quest to win the quadruple this season.

Speaking to reporters on Sunday after watching his team thrash Wigan Athletic 4-0 in the fourth round of the FA Cup, Arteta highlighted the impact of injuries on his squad. Captain Martin Ødegaard missed the match due to a knock, while Riccardo Calafiori was injured in the warm-up. The Gunners are already without Mikel Merino and Kai Havertz.

“Yes, I am concerned, especially as we are navigating through this injury crisis… first it was the strikers, then the defenders, and now it’s the midfielders,” Arteta replied when asked about the thinning squad as they compete on all fronts.

Arsenal currently sits four points clear at the top of the Premier League and will face Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final. They also finished at the top of their Champions League group.

“We are managing the situation, but we need players back and fit to provide not only numbers but different tactical options against our opponents. The sooner we can achieve that, the better,” Arteta added.
