The second half saw Arsenal maintain their dominance. Viktor Gyökeres effectively sealed the points in the 66th minute, converting a chance created by Kai Havertz to make it 2-0. Gyökeres then added his second, and Arsenal’s third, in injury time (90+3’), completing a comprehensive 3-0 triumph. Elsewhere, Manchester United’s impressive resurgence under interim manager Michael Carrick continued as they secured a fourth consecutive Premier League victory, defeating ten-man Tottenham Hotspur 2-0. This result further compounds the woes for Spurs boss Thomas Frank.
United have been revitalised since Carrick’s short-term appointment, with their honeymoon period now featuring triumphs against Manchester City, Arsenal, Fulham, and now Tottenham. Bryan Mbeumo opened the scoring shortly after Tottenham captain Cristian Romero received a red card for a reckless first-half challenge on Casemiro. Bruno Fernandes then wrapped up a deserved 2-0 win against Carrick’s former club.
This victory, United’s first against Spurs since 2022, strengthens their hold on fourth place. Meanwhile, Tottenham, who host Newcastle on Tuesday, will be desperate to end a seven-match winless run in the Premier League.
