All Progressives Congress (APC) governors operating under the aegis of the Progressive Governors’ Forum on Sunday night met in Lagos in Lagos to strategise ahead of the national convention scheduled for the weekend in Abuja.
The governors held the meeting at the Eko Hotel, Victoria Island after they had formed part of the delegation of governors across the country that paid President Bola Tinubu Sallah homage at his Lagos residence.
The meeting chaired by the chairman of Progressive Governors’ Forum and Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, was attended by the party’s National Chairman, Prof. Netanwe Yilwatda, National Secretary Senator Ajibola Basiru and Presidential Political Adviser Ibrahim Masari.
Also at the meeting were Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos State), Mai Mala Buni (Yobe), Sheriff Oborevwori (Delta), Lucky Aiyedatiwa (Ondo), Agbo Kefas (Taraba), Umo Eno (Awka Ibom), AbdulRaman AbdulRazaq (Kwara), Ahmadu Sule (Nasarawa), Bassey Otu (Cross River), and Siminalayi Fubara (Rivers).
Others were Usman Ododo (Kwara), Francis Nwifuru (Ebonyi), Caleb Mutfwang (Plateau), Abba Yusuf (Kano), Umaru Bago (Niger), Peter Mbah (Enugu), Monday Okpebholo (Edo), Douye Diri (Bayelsa), Dikko Raddah (Katsina), Dapo Abiodun (Ogun), Biodun Oyebanji (Ekiti), Fr. Hychint Alia (Benue).
It was gathered from reliable sources that the meeting was convened to finalise the zoning of the party offices in preparation for the convention.
‘’ You know the convention is coming up in Abuja very shortly. We need to be on the same page on this, especially as it concerns zoning of party offices to different zones of the country.’’
As of the time of filing this report there were indications that they may want to sustain the status quo in the zoning of party’s offices beyond 2027 since the president will be going for reelection.
It was also gathered that they may tinker with the current arrangement at the micro level of the zoning in order not to marginalize any part of the country.
