The Force headquarters has said that following “an exhaustive investigation” into allegations of NYSC certificate forgery against the Minister of Interior, Olubumi Tunji-Ojo, the Police found no evidence of falsification or forgery against the minister.
Recall that there had been protests in some parts of the country calling on the relevant authorities to investigate allegations claiming that Mr. Tunji-Ojo forged not only his WEAC Secondary School certificate, but also his NYSC certificate.
When contacted on the development, Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Benjamin Hundeyin, said the allegations have been investigated and found to be unfounded.
His words, “After an exhaustive investigation into the allegations, it has been established that there is no evidence whatsoever of forgery, altercation, falsification or unlawful production of the minister’s NYSC certificate”
“The NYSC was contacted and it was verified that the certificate was duly issued by the corps to the minister. The allegations are therefore unfounded.”
Recall that following similar allegation of forgery against the minister, the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) in January this year, authenticated the WASSCE result of Tunji-Ojo.
The attestation certificate released by WAEC bears the minister’s full name, date of birth, embossed photograph, original certificate number and official authentication markings.
The WAEC document, titled Attestation of Results, states, “Tunji-Ojo attended the Staff Secondary School at the Federal University of Technology, Akure, and sat for the Senior Secondary School Examination in June 1999.”
The grades recorded show that the minister earned B3 in Economics, B2 in Mathematics, A1 in Agricultural Science, B3 in Biology, C6 in Chemistry, C6 in English Language, A1 in Yoruba Language, C6 in Further Mathematics, and B3 in Physics.
