The All Progressives Congress has appointed top government officials, including Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, and Secretary to the Government of the Federation George Akume, to head its Ceremonial, Programme and Events Sub-Committee ahead of the party’s 2026 National Convention.
APC National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka announced the full list of sub-committees yesterday, saying the move signals the party’s readiness to deliver a transparent and credible convention.
Morka said the committees have been assigned responsibilities covering screening, appeals, election management, venue coordination, security, finance, media, accreditation, legal advisory, logistics, and welfare, all designed to ensure “a seamless and well-organised convention.”
Governors, former governors, federal lawmakers, ministers and senior party leaders make up the bulk of the appointments across the various committees.
He urged members to discharge their duties diligently and in accordance with the party’s Constitution and approved guidelines.
The APC assured its members and stakeholders that the 2026 Convention would strengthen internal democracy and reinforce the party’s commitment to credible leadership recruitment.
