AFCON 2025: CAF Sends Two Referees Home Ahead Of Semi-final Matches

The Confederation of African Football, CAF, has dropped two referees from the remainder of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, in Morocco.

According to BSN Sports, the two officials dropped are: Boubou Traoré (Mali) and Abdou Abdel Mefire (Cameroon).

CAF did not state reasons why Traore and Mefire were sent home.

But it could simply be the governing body trimming its roster as the AFCON enters it closing stages.

CAF has narrowed the field of referees ahead of the two semi-finals, the third-place playoff, and the final.

– Jean Ndala
– Amin Omar
– Pierre Atcho
– Peter Waweru
– Dahane Beida
– Jalal Jayed
– Samuel Uwikunda
– Issa Sy
– Omar Artan
– Abongile Tom
– Mahmoud Ismail
– Mehrez Melki
