Tinubu’s Aide Dismisses New Opposition Coalition as Lacking Ideology

Published:

Daniel Bwala, President Bola Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Policy Communication, predicts that the newly formed opposition coalition, the African Democratic Congress (ADC), will collapse within six months due to its lack of a clear ideology. Speaking on Channels Television’s “Politics Today,” Bwala stated that the coalition poses no threat to the current administration.

He highlighted that even the Labour Party’s 2023 vice-presidential candidate, Datti Baba-Ahmed, had previously raised concerns about potential internal conflicts within the coalition, particularly regarding the selection of a presidential candidate. Bwala criticized the ADC for failing to offer any meaningful policy alternatives, cautioning that public excitement about the coalition should not be mistaken for long-term political impact.

Bwala remarked, “What I still find intriguing is that this coalition of internally displaced politicians has not been able to summon the courage to come up with alternative facts, alternative policies, or alternative programmes.” He further added, “They have not brought a single alternative policy to the table. All they do is criticise and issue press statements. The truth is, they lack vision and have not shown Nigerians they truly care.” Bwala concluded by dismissing the threats from opposition leaders, describing the new alliance as fragile and unsustainable.
