A tricycle (Keke) operator and his female passenger on Sunday, died in a serious accident that occurred at Ohiya area of Umuahia South LGA of Abia State, along the Enugu-Aba-Port Harcourt Expressway.
Also, two other passengers who were inside the tricycle also suffered multiple fractures in the accident and were rushed to the Federal Medical Centre, FMC Umuahia.
The accident, according to eyewitnesses, happened when a truck, which was on top speed, rammed into the Keke from behind, dragging the tricycle and its occupants to a long distance.
According to the eyewitnesses, two passengers died instantly from the impact of the wreckage while the two surviving passengers who were still in terrible conditions, were taken to the hospital for immediate attention.
The bodies of the deceased were deposited at the mortuary for proper identification.
When contacted by DAILY POST, the Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC Abia State Command, Ngozi Ezeoma confirmed the sad development, noting that it occurred at Ohiya Mechanic Village, Umuahia South LGA.
She reiterated the need for motorists to drive carefully and avoid anything that would result in an accident.
