Less than 24 hours when suspected members of Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists launched a coordinated attacks on a Military Base and some residential locations in Pulka Community of Gwoza local government area, which were all repelled by troops of Joint Task Force North East Operation HADIN KAI, another set of Boko Haram terrorists attacked and burnt houses in Debiro village, Kwajaffa/ Harang Ward of Hawul Council, all in Southern Borno Senatorial District.
Some parts of Debiro inhabitants also shares local border with the Biu local government area, which had witnessed a series of terrorist attacks and killings in the past.
Sources revealed that the Debiro latest onslaught on Sunday evening led to the destruction and setting ablaze of residential houses, a vehicle, looting of foodstuff and livestock, with scores of people who fled from their homes into the bush for safety.
The North East Chairman and Commander of Hunters/Vigilantes (Sarkin Baka) based in Hawul Local Government Area of Borno State, Alhaji Shawulu Yohanna, confirmed the Debiro attack on Sunday night.
Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume (Borno South) while confirming the two incidents urges the Federal government to equip security agencies, especially the Nigerian Army and the Nigeria Airforce with sophisticated drones, fighter jets and other technological weapons to end the over 16- year Boko Haram conflict in the North East and other criminal activities such as kidnappings and banditry that are so prevalent in many parts of the Northern region.
He also applauded the efforts of Troops of Operation HADIN KAI for their commitment and sacrifices, which led to the repel and defeat of some Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists who attempted to infiltrate the Military Base and other surrounding settlements in Pulka Community of Gwoza local government area in Borno state.
Ndume, while speaking on the Pulka incident, said the timely reinforcement of troops from Kirawa, Ngoshe and Gwoza town saved many lives and property in Pulka’s terrorist failed invasion last Sunday morning, which lasted for over one and a half hours.
Ndume, former Chairman Senate Committee on Army, admitted that scores of the insurgents were forced to withdraw and fled in disarray, having realized that they were overwhelmed by firepower from troops in Pulka. Many people were forced to flee their homes for safety.
“I want to commend the efforts of Troops of Operation HADIN KAI for their commitment and sacrifices, which led to the repel and defeat of some Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists who attempted to infiltrate the Military Base and other surrounding settlements in Pulka Community of Gwoza local government area in Borno state.
” The timely reinforcement of troops from Kirawa, Ngoshe and Gwoza town saved many lives and property in Pulka’s Terrorists failed invasion.
“Is good to be informed that scores of the insurgents were forced to withdraw and fled in disarray, having realized that they were overwhelmed by firepower from troops.
“I also commiserate with the people of Debiro over the sad Boko Haram invasion this Sunday evening.
“Let me also reiterate my call on the Federal government to equip security agencies, especially the Nigerian Army and the Nigeria Airforce with sophisticated drones, fighter jets and other technological weapons to end the over 16- year Boko Haram conflict in the North East and other criminal activities such as kidnappings and banditry that are so prevalent in many parts of the Northern region”. Ndume explained.
However, reliable Sources told our Correspondent gathered that no casualties were recorded on the side of the Military or Civilians in both attacks, but property worth millions of naira was destroyed.
