Afrobeats star Davido has issued a public apology to gospel singer Tosin Bee following a social media outburst that stemmed from his ongoing custody dispute with Sophia Momodu over their daughter, Imade Adeleke. The apology came after the singer mistakenly linked Tosin Bee to a lawyer involved in the court proceedings.
The incident unfolded shortly after Davido appeared at the Lagos State High Court in Yaba for a hearing tied to the custody case. Emotions reportedly ran high during the session, particularly after a lawyer representing Sophia referenced his late son, an issue that visibly unsettled the singer and heightened tensions in the courtroom.
In the aftermath of the hearing, Davido took to Instagram, where he reposted content from Tosin Bee, apparently under the mistaken impression that the gospel artiste was connected to the opposing counsel. In a now-deleted Instagram story, he directed harsh remarks at Tosin Bee, including comments referencing his family and music, sparking confusion and backlash online.

The post quickly gained traction, with fans attempting to piece together the connection between the gospel singer and the legal dispute. However, Tosin Bee responded calmly, choosing clarification over confrontation. In his reply, he explained that Davido had mistaken him for someone else and disclosed that his mother had passed away eight years ago.
“Hello Mr David, I don’t know anything about the post you made. As a matter of fact, my mum went to be with the Lord eight years ago,” Tosin Bee wrote. He described the situation as one of mistaken identity and extended empathy toward Davido, adding that his prayers were with him despite the misunderstanding.
Following the clarification, Davido promptly deleted the posts and returned with a brief but direct apology. “I apologise! My bad G,” he wrote, effectively drawing a line under the episode.
