A group, Igbo Women Ambassadors, has faulted the protest by women from the Ohafia council area against Senator Orji Uzor Kalu.

Women and youths from Ohafia were singing negative songs against the senator yesterday.

They accused the Senator of describing Ohafia as an ‘IPOB area’.

Leader of the Igbo Women Ambassadors, Ambassador Lady Marlene Onyeocha-Okolie, said the development calls for sober reflection and caution, stressing that women should not allow themselves to be used as political stooges or instruments of division in society.

It called on Igbo women to rise above provocation, act with wisdom, and remain true ambassadors of peace and progress.

The statement read, “Igbo Women, our women, the Umu Ada, should remain dignified and not allow themselves to be used as political stooges or instruments of division.

“Igbo women have always been known as custodians of peace, culture, and moral values, and such actions do not reflect the noble role we occupy in our society.
Women hold a central place in the Igbo community as nation builders, peacekeepers, and moral compasses.

“Our words and actions carry weight, especially in times of political tension. It is therefore our collective responsibility to promote peace, dialogue, and mutual respect, regardless of political affiliations.

“A peaceful and conducive environment is essential for sustainable development and for securing a better future for our children and generations yet unborn. When women choose peace, communities flourish; when women are divided, society suffers.

“Igbo Women Ambassadors is committed to empowering Igbo women globally to be voices of unity, dignity, and positive change. Our aims and objectives include promoting peace building and conflict resolution, empowering women through leadership, education, and advocacy, preserving Igbo culture and values, and projecting a positive image of Igbo women worldwide.

“We also strive to encourage responsible civic engagement, protect the interests of women and children, and foster collaboration that strengthens our communities.”
