Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has described a former governor of the state, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, as a patriotic democrat whose contributions to the growth and stability of Osun State remained significant.
The governor made the remark at a programme organised in honour of Prince Oyinlola’s 75th birthday in Ile-Ogbo on Sunday.
Represented by his Special Adviser on Tax Matters, Kamarudeen Ajisafe, Governor Adeleke said, Prince Oyinlola represents a symbol of democracy and good governance, with several landmark achievements recorded during his tenure in office.
Governor Adeleke said his administration recognises and appreciates the local, national and international contributions of Prince Oyinlola to the development of Osun State and Nigeria at large.
“We value and honour you as a symbol of good governance and patriotic living,” the governor said in a message delivered at the event.
He added that “Prince Oyinlola has continued to play a stabilising role in public affairs. Locally and nationally, you remain a respected voice who continues to serve as a voice of stability and peaceful co-existence.”
The governor described the former governor as a reconciliatory figure, saying, “in conflict situations, you de-escalate tension and bring people together for consensus.”
Governor Adeleke said Prince Oyinlola’s approach to leadership had supported ongoing efforts to advance development in the state, describing him as “an honest peacemaker and a dependable elder statesman.
“In my decades of relationship with your Excellency, you have earned my confidence as a genuine counsellor and an ardent supporter of good governance.”
